Why Scripts and Storyboards Matter
Data: 09/16/2026
If an employer asked me why they should care about a script or storyboard, I'd tell them it's the cheapest part of the process and the one that prevents the most expensive mistakes. Filming without a script means you figure out your message while the camera is already rolling, which usually leads to reshoots, wasted hours, and a final product that doesn't say anything clearly. A script forces you to decide what you're actually trying to communicate before you commit any resources to it. A storyboard does the same thing visually, so everyone on the team is picturing the same thing instead of assuming they agree. I'd compare it to a blueprint: nobody starts building a house and figures out where the rooms go halfway through. It looks like an extra step, but it's really the step that makes every other step faster.
